Goodbye Cruel World!

1.      I have done a lot of writing this quarter. My favorite pieces are probably The Cake Poem, Clang, and The Honeymoon. I enjoyed writing these because of the thought I had to put into them. I don’t like having to write on paper with a pen or pencil or anything artistic like painting so writing is how I am creative. These works were the easiest to do since I got the most freedom to play with them.
2.      I don’t really read poetry outside of this class, but I did read a book called Ender’s Game. This was about a young boy who was told to fight a war sing handedly from a spaceship, directing ships and vessels to attack an alien fleet threatening the planet earth. During the book however, he thinks that the ships he controls is just a fighting exercise since he has been enrolled into a battle school for kids like that of West Point. Later in the book he finds out that the entire time he was fighting he was actually killing the aliens. At the end of the book, he finds the last alien egg in known existence. Instead of killing it and putting the ultimate stop to the aliens from ever coming back, he keeps the egg safe. It is one of the best books I have read in a long time.
3.      I set up my blog by mainly just doing the minimum. I filled out my name, picked I back ground I figured looked like it fit me, and then just started writing. Some people put music on theirs and some people put lots of pictures. I figure that if they wish to listen to music and learn about me, they should add me on MySpace. If they want to look at pictures I put up, then they should add me on Facebook. If they want to read my work, then they can go to my blog. The way I came up with my name is I figured it was a new experience for me and I was in school so new school was a given. But I always hear old people say things about old school so I figured I would put both together and make it simple. I don’t really care who or when people read my blog. I don’t care if people ever read my blog. If they wish to gain knowledge, then making them read it doesn’t teach them the knowledge. If student doesn’t want to learn, a teacher cannot make them learn. Same thing for my blog. If people wish to know about my thoughts and learn about me, then they can do the work to find my blog and read it. I do not know if I will continue to use my blog. Probably not. Well, I won’t post anything if I don’t write on here anymore.
4.      I hate journaling. I only put in there what I need to pass the class. I don’t care who reads it since it doesn’t matter outside of the class. I will not continue to journal. I will write about nothing.
5.      I’m dead, I’m dead
Forever more
Don’t cry for me
I live in lore
6.      Picture Perfect
This is the gold
That had been fought over
By so many.
This is the leather jacket
A nerd wore so proud
To stay warm and stay cool.

This is before the dirt
Covered his best friend.
This is before the ground
Took his oldest comrade.
7.      I plan to just write when I feel like it. I figure I am the most creative and most motivated when I really want to write and not when I force myself to. Normally I get peace out of writing creatively. I enjoy getting lost in my work and making my audience feel compelled to cry by the words in my piece. Other writing I do is normally forced and therefore more mechanical, lacking the feeling and texture of my creative writing.
8.      I appreciate what Mrs. Fraser and Ms. Ferkel did for this class and I enjoyed being on the computers. I believe that in the future, this class should mainly be a computer class so that we don’t have to always move around. I do believe that we as a group are a very good group of writers with enormous talent. And that by writing and working together we have learned a lot about each other. We learned that others would see us, “in the simplest terms, in the most convenient definitions. But what we found out is that each one of us is a brain... and an athlete... and a basket case... a princess... and a criminal.” It is not often that students actually sit down and think of how things are in their school. But I do believe that by students not just seeing in their click, or the people they always run with, and not being seen just as jocks or brains or druggies or dorks, but by being seen for what we are, is the best education that society can give to their children. Because we aren’t just one group, we are all of the groups. And we are Kickapoo. Thank you Mrs. Fraser and thank you Ms. Ferkel for helping us see that.

Real Enough

I believe that Dan does want his kids to “do as I say, not as I do.” This is because of the fact that all parents say this. Parents all around want their kids to have better lives than what they had. Parents cat not live seeing their kids make the same mistakes they have and do make. I suspect that Dan did not rush into his relationship with his kid’s mother. This is why Dan doesn’t believe that love happens that fast. He is scared; it’s as simple as that. No matter what happens, parents have almost always been in the same type of situation their kids have been in, so that the parents know how to get out and make the situation better.
Something that people do not know about me is that I am easily angered and I will make my point clear no matter the consequences. A perfect example is their past weekend. A debater that I went against, before the round, told me that they would beat me in the debate and show me why he was A spot. Normally I am very calm on the outside and I understand I don’t know the most about everything, and I am not the best debater. However, by him saying this, it only angered me to the point where I took his whole case, which has only been beaten once this whole year, and tore it to shreds.
My special talent to that I am able to deal with many different types of people and merge into groups, easily making friends. I am an outgoing person, who is normally light hearted and I enjoy making people laugh. With this in mind, it is common for me to be in many different social circles and know many people throughout the building.
As a child I did not have nicknames my family called me. My friends would call me Chris and that angered my mother. She would always yell, “I named you Christopher! If I wanted your name to be Chris, I would’ve name you that!” I still enjoy referring to myself as Chris in front of her just to make her a little annoyed. The only nick name I really had a Little Tony. My grandfather’s name is Tony and I apparently looked a lot like him at birth.

Ice, Ice, Storm

Many people lived without power for a few weeks early in the year of 2007. However, I did not. I only lost power for about 5 minutes at a time, and only three times. But the times I did lose power were the worst possible times to not have power. The first time I had almost beaten my cousin at a racing game. He had told me for over a year that he was the best at this game, and now I was going to prove him wrong. I knocked him into a wall and passed him while he tried to regain his speed. About four seconds before I crossed the finish line, the whole basement went dark and the tv shut off. It took my a few seconds to realize that the game also was shut off.
The next time was when I was about to beat him again, but at a different game. This time, it was football. I was like 3 points away from winning with a little over 2 minutes left in the 4th quarter. I had the ball and starting running up the field. I had 30 seconds to score or lose. I was tackled on my own 40 by my cousin’s safety. The next play I passed the ball about 6 yards from the line to my tight end, who immediately tore up field and dodged the tackle by the safety. I had only like 10 seconds to run 20 more yards when the tv again went dark and we were left there stunned in the pitch black.
The third time the lights went out, I was not playing games sadly. I was in the middle of washing my hair in the shower. When all of the sudden my lights went out. The water was still going, but I couldn’t move. And from that experience, I learned the baby soap that says “no more tears” was lying to me and kids everywhere.

A Rough Life

I am…
An unbreakable spirit in a limited body.
Knowledge won through years of hardships.
The provider for my nest.
The mother hen.
The same season year round.
Like the gum you step on, but never comes off your shoe.
Hard hands to help soft children.
The oil that makes America run smooth.
Half of minimum wage and twice the work.
Tired.
Sleepless nights full of house cleaning.
Long days in the fields bowing to the plants year round.

Lights, Camera, and....Action!

My favorite movie as a kid was The Lion King. I watched it over, and over. I would keep rewinding (we didn’t have DVDs then) it just to play it again. I had Lion King everything. Plates, spoons, forks, knives, cups, blankets, stuffed animals, pajamas, shoes, hats, shirts, and more! I deeply enjoyed the story of how a young lion could grow up and defeat his evil uncle. This is probably why I enjoy the play Hamlet today.

I don’t enjoy watching movies that are very gory. I love action films, I love horror, and I love war movies. But when a person is holding his/her guts or they are running around losing what is obviously more blood than the human body can hold, it’s stupid. I can take am arm being blown off from enemy shelling, or someone getting shot, or even a person getting stabbed repeatedly. But when a person saws off their own arm or the like, it is just too much and I do not enjoy it.

I watch movies when I am suppose to be doing my homework. I often just stay at home while watching them and I enjoy being either be myself or with a member or two of my family. I don’t normally watch movies with friends, and I rarely go out and attend a theatre. I often enjoy candy, popcorn, a drink (normally pop like IBC root beer or like mountain dew, but I will drink water), and a warm place to relax.

My movie watching personality is:
YOU ARE 92% EXTRAVERTED.
You are extraverted, outgoing, active and high-spirited. You prefer to be around people most of the time.
YOU ARE 50% AGREEABLE.
You are generally warm, trusting, and agreeable, but you can sometimes be stubborn and competitive.
YOU ARE 42% CONSCIENTIOUS.
You are easygoing, not very well organised, and sometimes careless. You prefer not to make plans.
YOU ARE 75% EMOTIONALLY STABLE.
You are generally calm and able to deal with stress, but you sometimes experience feelings of guilt, anger and sadness.
YOU ARE 50% OPEN TO NEW EXPERIENCES.
You are down-to-earth, practical, traditional, and pretty much set in your ways.

If my life story was made into a movie, then it would be a lot like Farris Bueller’s Day Off. Kids would a lot more of how to get away with stuff, and the world would know how a lot of trouble was originally caused. Also, boredom for kids would probably have to be put to a stop. That’s how trouble starts. Also, parents wouldn’t like my movie/life. Kids would love it though.

Window Poem

Trees in a line,
Across the open grass.
Cows walking and eating,
While birds fly past.

On the left is a pond,
Shallow, but deep.
Full of memories of fishing,
And of turtles we keep.

Today there is a wolf.
Hunting, stalking my cattle.
He is all alone,
He would not be a battle.

Always the view is beautiful,
So open and free.
Sometimes it is dead,
Yet it lives in me.

The trees are bare,
It is a scene of gray.
Beautiful as it is now,
A blanket of snow on it lay.

Something moves in the trees,
As pale and whispy as the wind.
It will wait in the dark woods,
Until its help it can lend.
